Rich People 2

 Rich People

We all know we're never too rich to be poor. Some of us can't afford a fancy watch or two and the kids can't get one each. The wealthy are born with more than they know what to do with. It's common knowledge that rich people are able to be better at everything. This is what makes them successful. Yet, many of these same individuals would consider life without the luxury to be just as poor. A simple example of this is a man who was born into wealth. His entire family life was based on having so much money he literally had two homes. In his early twenties he went back home to live with his parents. He didn’t have enough to eat and couldn’t even pay for his own health care. That is until years later when he became well known because of how successful he was. Now everyone wants to take his place.

rich people.jpgPeople who want to put “richness” and “wealthy” in their names are guilty of being arrogant and unqualified to make such statements. They think if people think something is bad, then no one else does either. Most of my friends and I don't like or recognize these labels. After a few decades of working in high school, college and university, we all have learned to accept that our lives don't have to look the way our parents' did. When it comes down to it, the truth is that there really isn't a difference between what my father and grandfather and grandparents could do and where I am today.

I was lucky enough to grow up knowing that my education and success has nothing to do with how I grew up. However, there is a clear disparity in the socioeconomic status of the world. According to Forbes magazine, in 2015, 35% of American families had incomes below the federal poverty level, but that wasn’t bad for a country whose population.  Department of Agriculture (USDA) stands for absolute poverty (also known as severe food insecurity) and includes lack of adequate housing, lack of medical care, inadequate shelter, and inadequate sanitation and shelter. The report also highlights that children, women, and older adults experience far greater rates of extreme poverty than those of any other age group.

According to an April 2016 study from the Harvard University School of Public Health and Human Services, 42 million Americans or 15% of the US live in the poverty line.

Harvard University School of Public Health and Human ServicesEven though statistics are skewed by the fact that millions of people choose not to tell the most recent figures due to privacy concerns. Regardless, statistics do point out the severity of the problem. On top of that, one can add that people who don't have access to quality healthcare can have it completely wrong and miss significant diagnoses. There are 2-3 million Americans living with untreated diseases, which is a crisis waiting to happen. Just because someone has more money doesn’t mean they have an easier time getting well, especially when they don't have access to quality healthcare. So that $100 billion dollar question still pops up in your mind. If you don't go to the doctor and ask why something wasn't treated sooner or worse, there are a lot of reasons why your doctor isn't doing their job. One needs to ask themselves why you have that $250 bill in your pocket that nobody has ever seen. Why do you need medication? Why are you always suffering from something serious? What do you need to do so that your heart stops beating? How about it being cured? Do I have to keep taking antibiotics? You might as well have died a long time ago, right?

The answer is yes. Yes there are ways to cure your illness. But, once you have a serious issue, there's not nearly enough available to treat it, let alone cures. That's why it's essential to find a community to share your journey with. As a side effect of that, the world doesn't allow such people to thrive. All people were made with a different purpose. Be it the homeless, drug addicts, cancer patients, etc. Your life was given to you as a gift from God, regardless of the situation. Don’t let anyone use your struggle for their favor. Take pride in your own strength. Keep inspiring others to do your best. Get healthy. Get better. It’s not about making money, it’s about having a fulfilling life and doing what you love most.
